Juana Fran Ramirez and Isabelle Pegrum

Juana Fran Ramirez is a 75-year-old woman who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at just 48 years old. Despite the challenges of a progressive condition, she has remained committed to living life with faith, creativity, and purpose, finding joy in music, nature, beauty, and meaningful connections with others. Drawing on her lived experience, she shares her story through film to raise awareness on Parkinson’s disease, challenge perceptions of disability, and empower others who are also living with a disability.

Isabelle Pegrum, co-filmmaker and editor is a 23-year-old woman who previously met Fran and was her support worker from 2021-2023. Isabelle is now an allied health worker with a strong passion for disability advocacy and believing that every person's story deserves to be heard, she helped bring this film to life. While she has no formal background in filmmaking, Isabelle has enjoyed photography and videography as creative hobbies to capture authentic human stories. Through this project, she hopes to capture a remarkable woman’s journey with Parkinson’s disease, and celebrate the resilience, dignity, and value that every person brings to the world.
